About the Art:
As your party walks down a path through a meadow, off to the side in a patch of grass is a satchel that looks like it's been exposed to the weather for some time. Upon closer inspection, there's a small pile of letters, a few coins, bits of cloth, and a map. All but one of the letters are a one sided conversation where someone is attempting to dissuade the reader to not do something "foolish" and to turn around and "come home alive". The last letter is clearly who the letters were intended for as it's hastily written with an excited hand about the "rumors are true" and that they'll be careful.
Looking at the map, you realize you aren't far from one of the bridges indicated on the map...
About the Artist: Hi! I'm Deven Rue, the official cartographer for Critical Role, Beadle & Grimm, WotC, Steamforged Games, and many more. I spend my days drawing and managing my business, while mornings are for relaxing with my cats, and evenings are dedicated to gaming. I love creating magical, often dark and creepy spaces, and I enjoy developing stories, histories, and lore for the maps I create, even if they don't always see the light of day.
I’m a traditionally trained artist, starting with paper before moving to digital, and I have experience in painting and making paper props for theatre productions. Despite not having a formal art education due to visual impairment, I've mastered various techniques through self-study and practice. I'm also an Earth Science nerd, a collector of skulls and miniature coffins, a dance enthusiast, and a lover of cooking. My workspace resembles a captain's quarters, reflecting my pirate heart, and I mostly play druids or clerics in games, enjoying a good villainous campaign.
