This pretty lilac slip dress showcases Galliano's love of both drape and cut. It has the added benefit of being a version of the dress that was shown on the runway that season in a longer length and also was photographed on Christy Turlington that year. This version of the dress is quite stunning and the simple design belies a masterful cut. It is suspended from the shoulders by straps that are set with a twist and held by little fabric loops. Each strap is cut and set slightly different from the other and they are placed so that the bodice ends up sitting slightly asymmetrical across the bust. From there the dress falls in a sweeping bias cut that causes it to sensually drape over the body and follow every curve. The skirt also falls on the bias from a curved seam at the waist and there is a high slit that exposes the thigh - set so high that it is almost scandalous. It is so simple but so very sexy.
